"Your deck is horribly unbalanced as usual..." He added. He came up and saw his card on the ground. "Ah! That's my card!" He came up and reached for it...only to have it snagged away. By the victor. "..." "A.ah...please, it's mine. He stole it from me, and..." "He put it up as ante in our duel, and lost. So therefore, this card now belongs to me." "!" He looked stunned.

"A.a fight!?" He gasped. "No, I just...I just want it back..." "As duelists, we have to respect the rules and deals set between one another. He bet the card, and lost it. Simple as that..." "Hm..." He looked down. "If you want it back, there's only one way." "One...way?" He looked at him... As he took the duel disk from the spiky haired boy.

"A.ah!?" He looked stunned, even more so when he was tossed a duel disk. "But I...I never played the game." He fitted his on. "You have a deck, don't you?" "Ah, yeah..." He said. "Then use it, I'll explain the rules as we go along." He turned. "Oh, one moment..." He took the card and tossed it at Ashen. He barely caught it. "Ah? Ezel!?" "If you're going to face me, you may not stand a chance without that card. So I'm going to let you borrow it, until I beat you and take it back." "...t.thanks." He put the card in the disk, and shuffled his deck. A bit stunned that he would take the time to explain the rules...not to mention give back his own card.

"It'll be easier to explain the rules if I go first. Now put on your D-Gazer." "D...what?" "The eye piece located on your duel disk." He held his up, which had a red glass, and put it on. "Ok..." He looked around and put it on. "Found it!" "Then let's duel!" (I'll divide the posts between player turns and rapid fire this out as fast as possible.)

"These gazers are the only way we can see our monsters combat each other." 'Then why can I see him...' He frowned a bit. "Now draw your opening hand. We each draw until we have five cards in our hand, and at the start of our turns we draw an extra card." (No dice, since this is an event duel) He looked over his hand. "There are three types of cards in our decks: Monsters, Spells, and Traps." He rose a card. "Each turn, we can summon one monster out onto the field. We may either place it face up in attack mode, or set it face down in defense mode. Like so..." He put the card down... As a dragon flew up and roared at Ashen. "N.ngh..." The poor kid grunted as he did.[rand=2254163839388638734042020863853395327420360874384643592316310387105]

"Ummm...." Seems without those glasses, watching a card game is so....boring and quiet. She can hardly see their cards on their discs. So... ...she snatched a D-Gazer from the crying black-haired boy. Not like he needs it, right now, if he's going to keep crying like a baby. And Mimi slid in on...and gasped at the monsters that suddenly appeared before her eyes. "Oh wow!! They look like they're actually there!"

"Monsters are our main units. They have attack points and defense points, and sometimes effects come along as well. This monster is Red-Eyes Wyvern, and during the end phase, I can remove this card from the game to special summon a Red Eyes monster from my grave. But it's not in effect since there are no Red Eyes monsters there." "I see..." He blinked. "The object of the game is to deplete your opponents life points with your monsters until they hit zero. We each begin with 4000 life points, and as said before: you lose if they hit zero." "So I can't let them get too low..." "Exactly...now for spells. Spell cards do various things: support monsters, destroy cards, and so on..." He rose a green card. "Pot of Greed, for example, lets me draw two cards from my deck." When he played the large pot, he drew a pair of cards. "Hm..." He blinked. "And traps?" "Well...you'll find out." He took another card. "We can place those cards, as well as spells, in our back row. Also known as the Spell and Trap zone." He slotted it in. "Like so..." He pointed out. "And now, my Wyvern will attack you directly!" "!?" He gasped. "...rather, it would. If this wasn't my first turn." He chuckled. "The downside of going first is that the player cannot attack until the other opponent goes. So you're up." "O.ok..." He drew his hand. "Oh. One more thing. You cannot summon a monster with 5 or more levels to the field. Those stars over the picture indicate what level they are." "Is that so..." He looked over his hand. "In that case...I summon my Gold Knight: Gareth to the field!" He put a card down. (I'm gonna custom all the vanguard cards up eventually, till then I'll just post a link to the pic and type down the description. Till then, please bear with me, folks. XD; ) Gold Knight: Gareth Attribute: Earth Level: 4 PicWarrior/Effect This card cannot be destroyed in battle by a monster with an attack higher than 1800 points. Atk: 1600 Def: 1000 A warrior leaped out, pointing his blade out at the dragon. "Gold Knights...a rare set." He watched him. "However, Gareth's attack points fall short of my Wyvern's." "A.ah...that's right..." "But you can support him with spell cards of course. Do you have one?" "I uh...I do!" He rose the card. "Legendary Sword gives Gareth 300 extra attack and defense points, which is just enough to overcome your dragon..." The young man took the blade and leaped up at the Wyvern... Atk: 1900

The knight slashed through the wyvern's wing, forcing it to growl out as it sailed down to the ground and exploded. He simply stood calm, as his dragon was defeated. "When a monster is overwhelmed by another, the owner of the defeated monster takes the difference in attack as damage. Since my wyvern's attack was 1800, and Gareth's is now 1900, that's 100 damage to my life points." Rai's LP: 4000 - 100 = 3900 "I see..." "Though, I can still do something about that." "Huh?" He blinked, and gasped as a card rose up. "Wait?! You can activate cards during my turn too!?" "That's what a trap card can do, yes. Trap cards are cards you can only activate a turn after you place them down, and they can be activated during your opponent's turn as well, provided certain conditions are met. Call of the Haunted allows me to revive a monster from my graveyard. My Wyvern is the only target, so I'll bring him back." And just like that, the dragon came back, roaring out. He flinched again. 'Ahh, I see...but Gareth is still stronger, I have the advantage...but...' "I think I'll set a trap card as well..." So he did. "...it's generally not a good idea to tell your opponent what card you laid down." "A.ah! Right...I'm sorry...I'm done now." "My turn..." He drew. "Hang on...it's effect only activates from the grave, right? Then why did you bring back your Wyvern?" "To demonstrate tribute monsters." He rose another card. "I mentioned before you cannot summon a monster with a level higher than 5 normally. But you can summon them by offering a monster on the field as a sacrifice. For level 5 and 6 monsters, you can tribute 1 monster. For level 7 and 8, two monsters must be tributed. And so on..." The Wyvern vanished.... Making way for an even bigger dragon. "2.2000!?" He stepped back. 'It's alright, I still have my face down, and it's not that much more powerful than Gareth, so...' "What's with that look? Don't tell me you thought I was going to take it easy on you." He took out another card, with a smirk. "Heavy Storm is a card that destroys all of our cards in the spell and trap zone. But since I don't have any, it only effects you." Suddenly, a strong wind blew away the trap card Ashen laid down, and Gareth's new sword. "No!" He gasped. "Legendary Sword is an equip spell, so therefore it had to stay on your field to remain active on Gareth. Now that it's gone, he's back to 1600 attack power." "Ah...but his effect keeps him from being destroyed by the dragon. So I'm safe..." "Really? I wouldn't be too sure of that..." He smirked. "Your monster would be safe from destruction, but my attack still goes through because it's in attack mode. The difference is subtracted between our points." "What?!"

"I think so..." Said the curly haired boy next to the bully...who evidently has been here the whole time. "Curse of Dragon attacks your knight." The dragon roared out and attacked with flames. Gareth stood his ground, grunting out as the flames washed over him. Indeed, his effect kept him alive... "Ah!" But the flames burned at Ashen, causing damage to his life points. Ashen's LP: 4000 - 400 = 3600 "You're lucky. Normally, your monster would be destroyed." He rose a card. "I'll set a card and end my turn." Rai's LP: 3900 Rai's hand: 4 Cards

He stood up, and breathed hard. 'So this is...a duel...it's...' "What's wrong? Don't tell me you're giving up..." "...no, I'm not...I just never thought I'd ever see you again. Let alone duel you." "...." "Rai. You gave me the strength I needed back then. You were the one who gave me that card..." "So you're Ashen...Saikou?" He smiled. "I am...I never forgot our meeting back then, Rai." He drew. "And I'm going to show you how far I've come." He suddenly sounded more confident. "I summon another Gareth." Another swordsman appeared next to him. "An XYZ summoning? So you're going to overlay both monsters to summon him, right?" "I am..." He nodded. "With the overlay network, I summon the shining lion..." Both of the knights disappeared into the vortex. And a bright light shot out from it.

"Come forth, and break your own limitations...Gold Lion: Ezel!" He called out. @ezel@ As a man leaped out and landed on the ground, and his long gold hair resembled a lion's mane. He seemed to carry a powerful aura with him. "...." "...." He simply watched the beast-warrior appear. "I activate Ezel's effect...by removing an XYZ material from him, I can look at the top card of my deck." He did so... @ezel@ And one of the orbs around Ezel vanished, as he let out a proud roar like a lion. "I can look at the top card of my deck, and if it's a Gold Knight, I can summon it to the field..." He put his finger on the top. "Please..." And drew. "...yes! I special summon Gold Knight: Silver Witch!" Gold Knight: Silver Witch Attribute: Dark Level: 4 PicSpellcaster/Effect You can banish an XYZ material from a card you control to draw a card. This monster cannot attack after you use this effect. Atk: 1500 Def: 1000 A witch appeared and winked at her opponent, making a pose. He seemed surprised by that, but shook his head. "When a Gold Knight is successfully summoned, Ezel gains attack power equal to the summoned card." @ezel@ And suddenly, the beast-warrior's aura rose up. 2500 + 1500 = 4000 "Thank you, Rai. If you hadn't given me this card, I probably wouldn't be standing before you today...so let's go, Ezel! Attack Curse of Dragon! Burning Sword!" @ezel@ He leaped up and dropped down to the dragon, swinging his blades out.

He drew his card. "...so you're saying I changed your life with that card? Sorry to disappoint you..." "?" "I'm not the guy you admire, it's time you stop making up fairy tales and wake up..." He had a very crooked smirk on. "I play Monster Reborn!" "This lets me revive a monster from my grave back onto the field. I'll bring back my Wyvern." Suddenly, the wyvern reappeared, roaring out. "Huh? It's back?" "And it won't be alone...I summon a second Red-Eyes Wyvern." It appeared, growling out. "And next I play Star Changer." "This will let me either reduce the level of the monster by 1, or increase it by 1. I choose to reduce my Curse of Dragon's level by 1 point." Curse of Dragon's Level: 5 > 4 "But...why?" "You're not the only one who can overlay monsters..." He said, as all three dragons vanished in a vortex. "Oh no!"
