Nistro is the kind of person who generally doesn't take his work all that seriously; preferring to joke around rather than actually act like a responsible person in charge of something. He's also quick to lash out against anyone who dislikes dueling.

Nistro, in contrast to his rather tough exterior, is a very exciteable person, and can be extremely competetive in regards to anything he does. He's the kind to form rivalries left and right, be it with Kite or Yuma or anyone else, and his hot-blooded nature serves him well when coupled with his partner, Dextra; his polar opposite.

To begin with, Nistro, alongside Kite and Dextra, worked alongside Dr. Faker in order to collect Numbers. As the time for the WDC eventually began rolling around, he and Dextra dueled against Yuma Tsukumo, one of the most renowned Number Hunters around. Though they lost, Nistro immediately took a sort of liking to him; determined to find a way to defeat Yuma before Kite would have the chance to do so.
It got to the point where Nistro actually resigned as one of the WDC administrators in order to compete in the tournament, eventually making it to the finals. After heated battled against some of the finalists, he and Yuma finally encountered each other again, with Nistro demanding a fiery duel between the two of them. In spite of losing again, Nistro was absolutely overjoyed over having battled someone as good as him, and even gave Yuma his ace monster, Heroic Champion - Excalibur.
