Nightshroud is merciless, cruel and caculating. He believes he's the most powerful being and always looks down on humans and weak Duel Monsters spirits. As such, he becomes overconfident when things are going his way and loses control of composure when he loses.

History:
Nightshroud's origin is a mystery... he is an evil spirit, god-like, whom is able to possess humans to conquer Earth by trapping humans in the sphere of darkness to make them one with him.
Originally, Nightshroud was summoned at the Duel Academy Island by Atticus Rhode's friend, whom vanished while Atticus was forced to hold onto the mask... when Atticus was forced into darkness, he wore the mask to save himself... while getting possessed by Nightshroud in the process. Since then, he became one of the Seven Shadow Riders to collect the seven keys to get the Sacred Beasts.
Nightshroud fought Jaden Yuki and lost, losing his host while sealing himself in a card. Atticus used him a couple of times, once to help Zane and the other to unlock how Nightshroud existed in the first place... both times, the evil spirit possessed Atticus, only to lose and be sealed away.
However, Nightshroud began his strike to capture all humans until Jaden Yuki was left... Jaden was unique then because of his unlocked Supreme King powers and fused with Yubel. Nightshroud tried to elminate him through a Duel, only to lose everything and banished.
Paradox came and fought against Jaden with Yugi and Yusei. Paradox lost, but the damage of the timestream caused it to be healed into a new timeline. Nightshroud was revived because of this, finding himself in the Duel Monster Spirit World.
Because of his God-Like status, he retained his memories of the previous timeline. He also found Jaden's Elemental HERO Neos and the powerful Rainbow Dragon, both exhausted after using their powers to protect themselves from the altered timeline, thus keeping their memories too.
With his loyal right-hand man, Trueman, back to his side... Nightshroud imprisoned the two as he couldn't destroy him. Since then, he tried to take over the Spirit World while finding and locking the Neo-Spacians away. But then, a boy came along and freed Neos...
Thus, a new battle has begun...
