Stern and stoic, Viper is the kind of person who would get the job done rather than skirt around any sort of issue. One could say that he's generally not a sociable character, though he does seem determined to do anything it takes to accomplish his goals.

In the past, he used to be a soldier in a war-torn country; living an existence that could best be seen as hell on earth. One day, a lone child drew his attention away from a certain zone of war, which was actually detonated while he was away; killing his entire unit. The child, who Viper saw as an "angel" in his torturous life, was subsequently adopted by him, and called Pierce.
Sadly, years after their meeting, Pierce's life was claimed by a vehicular accident. This all but devastated Viper, who sought out every possible option he could to try and remedy this wrong... and thus, he encountered Sartorius, or to be exact, the dark personality created by the Light of Destruction. Unwittingly, he fell prey to the Light's wicked charms, and, in exchange for working under Sartorius, he would do all in his power to try and bring Pierce back to life.
Since then, Viper has been a teacher at Sartorius' own private school, and also functioning as sort of an enforcer of the latter's will.
